Collecting donations for Clifton Cares

Once again, Clifton Cares will be packing and sending out much-needed items for our deployed military members with ties to Clifton. Packing will be in May; while volunteers are not required to do the packing, Clifton Cares is asking residents to bring supplies to City Hall, or to make a monetary donation. It costs $20 for Military Priority Mail, which is tax-deductible.

Toiletries needed include toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss and mouthwash; sunscreen and lip balm; foot powders and insoles; eyedrops; razors and shaving cream (not from a can). Food items include powdered drink mixes; microwaveable meals; jerky and pepperoni; single-portion snacks like chips, nuts, crackers and granola bars, and hard candies (no chocolate, it melts in the heat). The Girl Scouts are selling cookies locally through the end of the month and these are especially welcome as well as being a help to our local troops.

Always appreciated are white athletic socks, frisbees, playing cards, soft-cover books including puzzle books like crosswords, Sudoku and word search. Cards and letters are also welcome and give these young men and women a taste of home.

Please bring any donations to Clifton City Hall, where there is a large box dedicated to Clifton Cares. Thank you from the Clifton Cares Team and the military families.
