Clifton Police Recover Stolen Acura; Passaic Minor in Custody

Clifton Police were involved in a chase through city side streets Tuesday night. Officers Mulick and Marsilla had spotted a 2010 Acura RDX which had been reported stolen on Lexington Avenue. When they attempted to pull the car over, the driver sped away, instigating the pursuit.

The driver of the stolen vehicle led the chase into the city of Passaic. His reckless driving led to a collision with a parked car on President Street. That car was unoccupied.

The four occupants of the Acura fled on foot. Officers noted that the driver, who was wearing a ski mask, tucked what appeared to be a weapon into the waistband of his pants. Officers chased and eventually caught him on a nearby street, following a struggle. The suspect was taken into custody. Officers recovered a knife near the location and they believe it is the concealed weapon they'd noted earlier.

The other three suspects remain at large and the investigation into their whereabouts continues.

The suspect taken into custody is a 15 year old male from Passaic. He was charged with Motor Vehicle Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Eluding, and weapons possession offenses, according to Lt. Robert Bracken. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest stemming from a similar incident in Paterson.
