February is Black History Month

Each February, since its first inception as Negro History Week in 1926, we draw attention to the accomplishments and contributions of Black people who are disproportionately excluded from so many of the world's stories. Carter G. Woodson, the second Black American to earn a doctorate from Harvard University and the son of former enslaved people said, "If a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated."
