Clifton Native Rachel Zegler To Star in Hunger Games

Clifton native Rachel Zegler is set to play the fenale lead in fhe upcoming Hunger Games prequel “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.”

Zegler shared the news on Twitter; she will play Lucy Gray Baird opposite Tom Blyth of Billy the Kid as President Coriolanus Snow.

The Ballard prequel is set about 60 years before the first book in the trilogy and follows 18-year-old Snow, who becomes the villain of the Hunger Games series.

Director Frances Lawrence said of Zegler’s casting, "Lucy Gray is a perfect match for her as an actress: the character is bold, independent and defiant, but vulnerable and emotional. Rachel will make this character unforgettable."

The film is slated for theater release in November of 2023.
