Things to Do This Weekend in Clifton: April 9th & 10th

Things to do this weekend

We are all a little (or a whole lot) wetter after the storms we survived this week, and it’s time to get ready for another spring weekend in Clifton. Here are a few ideas of things to do:

Family-Friendly Events

Bunny Bash — Saturday, April 9th 9:30AM to 11:30AM

Due to poor weather conditions expected tomorrow, Saturday, April 9th the Clifton Recreation Department traditional Bunny Bash has been changed.

Participants will be able to purchase breakfast and visit with Mrs. Bunny at the Hot Grill beginning 9:00 am.

Mr. Bunny will be at Nash Park (across the street from Hot Grill) from 9:30 am - 10:30 am for photos and a special gift give-away. In addition, a few stations will be set-up where participants can receive candy filled eggs, toy filled eggs, lollipops and enter the jellybean guess.

Anyone who created a bonnet for the Easter Bonnet Contest should bring their entry to the Hot Grill at 10:00 am for judging.

Hot Grill & Nash Park, 669 Lexington Ave, Clifton, NJ 07011

Dine at a local restaurant!

Featured restaurant of the week: Aurora’s

It’s not a large space, but few places in Clifton have Italian food that matches the quality you will find at Aurora’s. This BYOB storefront restaurant, located at 429 Piaget Avenue, has authentic Italian dishes, friendly service, and specials that can’t be missed.

A few of the must-tries:

Spedino Romano Appetizer - Mozzarella and prosciutto on baked Italian bread smothered with a white wine, anchovy, and caper sauce. Delicious!

Penne alla Zingara - a spicy red sauce pasta, with crispy pancetta.

Chicken Marengo - a house specialty… this balsamic based dish can be made with boneless or on-the-bone chicken.

Plus, Aurora's usually tosses in a complimentary cannoli with every meal.

Not up for dining indoors? They have wonderful ‘Meals for Two’ that you can order for pick up, which includes: salad, Italian bread, pasta, and an entree... hearty portions are more than enough for two people to share.

Call to order or to make reservations (they get very crowded on weekends): (973) 772-2914.

Happy Hour!

If you aren’t in the mood for a full meal (although The Barrow House meals are definitely worth trying) one of the best places in Clifton for cocktails and appetizers is The Barrow House. From Fried Pickles to Baked Mac ’n Cheese with gouda, cheddar, and buttered breadcrumbs, the appetizers are inventive, hearty, and so delicious! Along with all of the standard bar favorites, The Barrow House offers a rotating menu of seasonal craft cocktails that are must tries, along with wines by the glass, a wide assortment of microbrew beers on tap, and more.
