The Love of Grub: Home Cooked Meals You Don't Have to Cook Yourself!


There’s a special place in Clifton where it always feels like summer — even when there’s an impending snowstorm in the forecast. It’s a colorful, happy place that consistently delivers hearty, freshly made, inventive dishes and boasts friendly staff who will learn your name and treat you like family. That place is: The Love of Grub.

The restaurant is bright and colorful — think Key West meets a Grateful Dead concert — and when the weather warms up there is a covered outdoor dining area in the back. Owner and chef Tracey, puts her heart and soul into every aspect of her business and is dedicated to providing customers with the tastiest, freshest food possible. Everything is made in house, from scratch, and Tracey mixes up the regular menu with weekly specials that are not to be missed. Portions are very hearty, and prices are reasonable (particularly in relation to both the quality and quantity of the food).

If food, service, and atmosphere aren’t enough to get you in, Tracey is a pioneer in environmentally conscious practices. No styrofoam or plastic straws, minimal plastic usage overall, even sourcing of locally grown produce (in season). Good for you and good for the planet, too.

While literally everything at The Love of Grub is worth a try, here are a few of our menu favorites:


Eggs Benedict — There are weekly “benny” specials and they are off-the-charts delicious. Poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, along with an assortment extras that may include: spinach, feta cheese, Taylor ham, Mexican chorizo, or other unexpected ingredients, served open-face on an English muffin, along with a side of house-made home fries.

Pepper, Onion, Potato, Egg Sub — This one conjures up memories of sandwiches that Mom would make. Served on a traditional sub roll, this breakfast sandwich will fill you up and delight your tastebuds all at the same time.

Of course, The Love of Grub has all of the breakfast classics you know and love, from pancakes and waffles, to egg platters, omelettes, and avocado toast, but all have a distinctive spin that elevates them to a whole new level.


Cheesy Grits with Shrimp — A Southern classic gets a New Jersey refresh. Creamy, cheesy grits served in a bowl and topped with shrimp in a delectable sauce. Delicious!

Specialty Burgers — Whether you go classic cheeseburger, or opt for one of the more gourmet varieties: cowboy burger, bacon bleu burger, or pizza burger to name a few, the burgers are thick, juicy, and made with fresh (never frozen) ground beef.

Soups, wraps, salads and more — between the regular menu selections and the weekly specials there are too many delicious options to choose from. One word of advice: try some of Tracey’s unique offerings, you will not be disappointed.
