Which bagel shop was voted the best in Clifton? The results are in!

It was a fierce battle, pitting some of Clifton’s favorite eating establishments against each other in a quest to be crowned: Clifton’s Best Bagel Shop. Although there are many places in town that feature bagels on their menu, Clifton has 7 actual bagel shops which were all included in our survey:

  • Bagel Station
  • Barry’s Bagel & Deli
  • Clifton Bagels
  • Goldberg’s Old Time Water Bagels
  • Hot Bagels Abroad
  • Lakeview Bagel & Deli
  • Plaza Bagel & Deli

The Results are In…

We’ve kept the survey open since the article first ran and in honor of National Bagel Day, which just happens to fall on Saturday, January 15th, here are the results!

With 59.90% of the votes cast, our clear winner: Plaza Bagel & Deli!

Located at 850 Van Houten Avenue (at the intersection of Van Houten Avenue and Mt. Prospect), Plaza Bagel & Deli is often referred to by one of the following names by Cliftonites: Heavy Metal Bagels, Punk Rock Bagels, or Rock ’n Roll Bagels. It hasn’t been determined if the various nicknames come from the vintage punk rock posters on the wall or the ultra cool owners and staff members, but once you try their bagels, you’ll be hooked. Weekends get very crowded (even more so in honor of National Bagel Day), so prepare to wait outside on line. You definitely won’t be disappointed.

In 2nd Place with 20.31% of the votes cast: Bagel Station!

Located at 1223 Van Houten Avenue (near the intersection of Broad Street), it’s not unusual to see customers lined up outside Bagel Station on any given morning (always a sign that a place must be doing something right). Located in a prime spot, midway between Woodrow Wilson Middle School and Clifton High School (not to mention across the street from Clifton School #2), Bagel Station is a source for bagels and breakfast wraps in the morning, and subs, and sandwiches at lunch time.

In 3rd Place with 10.42% of the votes: Hot Bagels Abroad

Located at 859 Clifton Avenue (across the street from Clifton City Hall), Hot Bagels Abroad has all of the classic bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and killer coffee that can start your morning off right (plus some speciality sandwiches named after famous Clifton locals, past and present).

Whether your favorite bagel spot ended up in the top three of our survey or not, there’s really only one way to celebrate National Bagel Day (or any other morning for that matter)… with a stop for a hot, crusty, Clifton made Jersey bagel!
