A Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight on 11/3 until 8am Thursday. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees are expected in parts of New Jersey including Eastern Passaic County.
Frost and freeze conditions kill crops, sensitive vegetation and can damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
The National Weather Service recommends residents take steps now to protect plants from the cold. Outdoor pipes should be wrapped, drained or allowed to slowly drip to prevent freezing and potential bursting. In-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and also cover above ground pipes to prevent freezing.
