Last week was a busy one for our marching band!
The band celebrated Senior Night at last Friday's game against Delbarton, had a Saturday morning practice, and on Sunday marched in the Halloween parade and then spent the entire evening at the North Jersey Band Festival. Because this week's football game was on Thursday, they had a shortened week for practice but despite it all, they debuted yet another wonderful halftime show!
The new show, Pure Imagination, is a nod to the 50th Anniversary of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and it opened with the band marching out to the song of the same title.
As they moved into position for the next song, the band played a piece of "Daydream Believer" by the Monkees. This led into a majorette number to another Monkees' favorite, "I'm a Believer."
John Lennon's "Imagine" was up next - perhaps an unusual choice for a marching band but beautifully done. It gives me chills every time I listen to it.
The finale drill, "Land of Make Believe" featured the four senior trumpet players - Jesse Felder-Pfaff, Harsh Patel, Lucius Patti, and John Rivas and was an honest-to-goodness showstopper.
Mark your calendars now - on November 24th at 7 pm the band will be performing at their second Under the Lights show at the stadium! The show will feature all of your favorite moves and music from the Mustang Marching Band. Bring a blanket and your friends as we warm up for Thanksgiving with the Showband of the Northeast!
