At last night's game at Passaic, the Mustangs premiered their first new show of the season as pregame entertainment (click to watch): 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees!
The show started with a drill to Todd Rundgren's "Bang the Drum All Day," featuring lots of fancy footwork and nearly constant motion.
As they transitioned into the next number the band played a piece of Tina Turner's "River Deep Mountain High."
The next piece spotlighted the baton-twirling majorettes performing to the Go-Go's "We Got the Beat" while Drum Majorette Angelina Pacosa conducted.
Beyonce and Jay Z's "Crazy in Love" was up next, featuring majorette sergeants Sohini and Gavi while the band formed a giant heart around them.
The grand finale number was another drill - the Foo Fighters' "The Pretender." Near the end of this action-packed piece the band formed two tight boxes, similar to their infamous CHS script block that "unwound" into two large circles. It was an impressive visual.
Our Clifton Mustangs joined the Passaic Marching Band at halftime, playing "America the Beautiful" together in a touching show of mutual respect. Earlier in the evening, several of Passaic's band members came over to offer compliments to our band, which was a lovely reminder of how music truly does bring people together.
Thank you to Romel Evangelista for capturing the video and to Jeana Rivas for the photo.
You can see the Mustangs perform this show again next Friday as our football team squares off against PCTI in Wayne.
