Flash Flood Watch in North Jersey Thursday through Friday


The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for northeast New Jersey beginning Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, that includes the following areas in northeast New Jersey, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic and Western Union.  In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northern Nassau, Northern Queens, Northern Westchester, Orange, Putnam, Richmond (Staten Island), Rockland, Southern Nassau, Southern Queens and Southern Westchester.

Heavy rainfall is likely Thursday afternoon into Friday morning, 1-2 inches with higher amounts locally possible. Flash flooding results from heavy rainfall and wet antecedent conditions.

The National Weather service recommends monitoring forecasts and be prepared if Flash Flood Warnings are issued.
