Clifton Pets of the Week - Meet Chip!

Chip (originally Chip Z'Nuff) is a big, handsome snugglebug looking for his furever home through the Clifton Animal Shelter. Chip has been neutered, fully vetted, and vaccinated. He is a healthy, calm and loving cat, who loves sitting on laps.  Check out his adorable adoption video to hear him purring up a storm! You can see more about Chip at his Petfinder profile HERE.

Handsome Chip is a ready to bring love to your home!

Chip was found as a stray outside, but was quick to come up to people and to want to come in for cuddles, so his foster mom believes that he has lived in a home before. Chip quickly showed his foster family that he is a big lover - he loves to lie on your legs, cuddle and purr up a storm! Chip even gets along with the foster’s dog. His markings are so distinctive - he has a cute white stripe on his nose and a “vanilla-dipped” tail.

Chip loves to play with toys and to snuggle in a warm bed on cold mornings.

The very cold weather this week poses a risk to cats who live outside, and they can use all the help they can get. If you encounter a cat who seems cold, you can bring the cat into a warm basement or bathroom to warm up and weather the cold snap. For more on how to help a cat with hypothermia see HERE. For more details on how to put out food, water, or a shelter for outside cats, please see HERE. The Clifton Shelter can also help put you in contact with local resources for TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Release).

Looking for snuggles!

Chip is a reminder of how important fosters are. Chip was put into a foster home because there are no open cages at the shelter, and it is so cold and dangerous outside for cats. Fostering a pet in your home takes them out of the cold and into safety, can reduce their stress and help prepare them to be adopted, as well as help the shelter learn more about the kind of homes they would need to thrive. It is also a wonderful way to help the shelter - there are currently so many cats at the shelter and they cannot save any new ones until the current residents find their forever homes. As a bonus, you get lots of cuddles to keep warm over the winter months! For more on the dangers facing outdoor cats, please see our article HERE.

Won’t you give Chip a home of his own?

If you think Chip would be a perfect addition to your family, please fill out the adoption application at the Clifton Animal Shelter and someone will contact you to discuss and answer any questions that you may have and to set up a time to come in to meet them. The shelter does this to ensure that the environment is calm and conducive to having potential adopters get a good sense of the personality of the companion animal, and so they aren’t subjecting them to unnecessary stress. The shelter is located in the City Hall Complex at 900 Clifton Avenue in Clifton.
