What’s Happening This Week in Clifton Public Schools
Monday the 15th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and all public schools will be closed to observe the federal holiday. Normal scheduling will resume on Tuesday.
The Clifton High School Band will hold their winter concert on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the high school’s auditorium. The performance will be directed by CHS’s band director, Mr. Stepneski, and will feature the freshmen and concert band playing songs such as “Clarinet Polka” and "New Mexico March.” Rather than donations for the band being accepted at the door, the department will partner with Project Homeless Connect to collect winter hats, scarves, socks, gloves, chapstick, hand warmers, and monetary donations for St. Peter's Haven in Clifton. Please bring your donation items to the concert; there will be collection bins at the door.
On Thursday the 18th, all schools will be dismissed early to accommodate the district’s monthly NJAchieve days. This half-day allows a program, Achieve NJ, to come in and observe, instruct, and evaluate teachers to improve student learning. For the early dismissal schedule for all schools, click here.
Also on Thursday, there will be a Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the basement of the Board of Education building at 745 Clifton Avenue. Like all of these meetings, the Superintendent and the Clifton Board of Education will discuss various issues facing the district and will hold a commentary portion for anyone interested in posing a question or worry concerning Clifton Public Schools. Winter sports season has kicked off at Clifton High School with sports such as girls' and boys' basketball, wrestling, hockey, swimming, and indoor track all having games, matches, and meets throughout the next few months. These events will be held at various times and locations so for more information; see the full athletic schedule at CHS Athletic Event Calendar. Any inquiries or questions can be directed to the high school’s Athletic Director, Mr. Mullahey, at TMullahey@cliftonschools.net.
Have a great week, Clifton!
