On 11/24/2023, at approximately 2:30 AM, officers responded to Morre Lyons Jewelers (Richfield Shopping Center) on the report of an activated alarm. Officers arrived to find an individual emerging from the rear of the business. That individual then re-entered the business once he observed arriving units.

A perimeter was established and the area of interest, which encompassed the entire shopping center - due to the access points between each business, was searched extensively. After several hours of searching, patrol officers located the suspect, later identified as Iver Veramiranda, 30 years old, of Clifton, hiding under a pile of boxes in the basement of an adjacent business. He was arrested and charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Weapons possession (knife, saw, crowbar), and Theft. All jewelry proceeds were recovered (totaling $93,000 in various jewelry).

Based on communication devices located at the time of arrest, detectives began an investigation into the possibility of an accomplice(s). The subsequent investigation led to the identification of his mother, Juana Miranda, 59, of Paterson, as his accomplice during the crime (getaway driver).

She was charged with the same offenses as her son and was arrested by a Clifton Patrolman last night on Lindale Court, Clifton.
