The Clifton Times Pet of the Week: Meet Nieve!
Here comes the snow! Meet Nieve, a beautiful one-year-old hypoallergenic Maltipoo and terrier mix, who is looking for her furever home through the Clifton Animal Shelter. Nieve weighs just 10 lbs and is fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. Check out Nieve’s Petfinder profile and adoption video HERE, to learn more!
Nieve means “snow” in Spanish, and this little girl is an all-white little snowball! She has hair, rather than fur, so she would be ideal for someone looking for a hypoallergenic dog. Hypoallergenic means that the dog would be less likely to cause allergies. Dogs that have hair rather than fur shed less of their coat, and also shed less skin or dander—the component of dog skin to which some people are more allergic. Hair also traps dander better, so less of it goes into the environment. For more on hypoallergenic dogs please see HERE.
Nieve was surrendered by her owner, through no fault of her own, when they moved and could no longer keep her. She is a very loving and affectionate dog with a lot of energy. She can walk nicely on a leash and is a big fan of playing with her people. The shelter feels that although she is good with other dogs, she would be best as the only dog in an adult home, where she can be given lots of attention and walks, as a healthy outlet for her puppy energy! Nieve has a long life ahead of her, and she just wants to find the right family to spend it with.
If you are able to give Nieve the loving start she deserves, please fill out the adoption application at the Clifton Animal Shelter and someone will contact you to discuss and answer any questions that you may have and to set up a time to come in to meet them. The shelter does this to ensure that the environment is calm and conducive to having potential adopters get a good sense of the personality of the companion animal, and so they aren’t subjecting them to unnecessary stress. The shelter is located in the City Hall Complex at 900 Clifton Avenue in Clifton (shelter phone number: (973) 470-5936)). You can also email email@example.com with questions or to set up your appointment to meet sweet Nieve.
