Clifton’s Live Artistic Opportunities Call for a Good Gander

To define a person's mind could take a lifetime, but to reach an understanding, a split instant. Art takes these two things down to a sensory level, allowing others to understand in an interactive way the world through the eyes of another. The “common good” such an interaction can bring about within a community is the topic of exploration in the New Jersey Art Association’s latest art exhibit, Oh the Possibilities, being hosted now at the Clifton Arts Center. Converse, explore, and discover with others how art can unify and mutually benefit people.

If this piques your interest, the exhibit’s featured artists will be available for a meet and greet on Saturday, November 18 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The art exhibit and sale began on November 8th and will continue until December 9th, open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Find the Arts Center at 900 Clifton Avenue on the grounds of the Clifton Municipal Complex, near the well.

If you wish to exhibit your own works, your submissions must be reviewed. To be considered, they must be presented and prepared in their entirety by the time of application; this application would need to consist of a visual record of the work being submitted (ideally in USB or CD format). An artist’s resume as well as an artist’s statement referring to the body of work being submitted, a proposal with a theme or concept, link to your websites or social media platforms, and additional supporting material (including news clippings, posters, past art show postcards, etc.) are all welcome.

The New Jersey Art Association welcomes artists both amateur and professional, working in all media, and are always looking for new members to hold opportunities to participate in many ways. Please be aware that the Clifton Arts Center reserves the right to exclude works deemed inappropriate in content or subject matter. e-mail your application to rcammilleri@cliftonj.org or call 973-457-5499 if interested. It is strongly recommended to mail your application/proposal and materials to the Director at the Clifton Arts Center, City of Clifton, 900 Clifton Avenue; submissions are considered on a rolling basis.

In tandem with the thought-provoking exhibit, the Clifton Arts Center brings back its Holiday Pop-Up Boutique! Shop for the holidays with some one-of-a-kind hand-made art - cash only. Closed on Thanksgiving Day, the sale will last from November 8th until December 9th, from Wednesdays to Saturdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call the Arts Center office for more information at: 973-472-5499.
