Heat Wave Causes Clifton Public Schools to Call for Early Dismissal
Clifton Public Schools opened today to teachers and other staff members for their beginning-of-the-year meetings and room organization. Wednesday, September 6, is the first day for students.
An alert went out this morning via email and the CPS app that, due to expected "real feel" temperatures of 100 degrees this week, all schools will operate on an early dismissal schedule on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If you do not have this app, you can download it HERE.
Lunch will be served all week, despite the early dismissal times. The notice also referenced the HVAC project, approved as part of the bond referendum. Work continues and, once completed, all schools will be equipped with air conditioning and the district does not foresee future closings due to heat once that is in place.
"We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our school district while keeping our learning community safe," the notice concluded.
