Those lazy, hazy days of summer can only mean one thing – time to get your summer plans in gear and let the kids have some fun before school starts up again in a few weeks.

Clifton is lucky to have a dedicated Recreation Department which brings exciting and low-cost activities and events to the city. The Clifton Recreation Department has been running a wide variety of week-long camp programs all summer and they’re not done yet! As of Thursday, August 3rd, the following August specialty summer camps still had openings. There is something for all sorts of interests and for different ages. Starting on Monday, August 7th they include:

Projects may include bikes, cranes, and even a windmill. Minds in Motion will be teaching different scientific principles and the fundamentals of electrical engineering, circuitry, and schematics. It’s preparation for future careers in a challenging and fun environment. Ages 8-12, from 9:00 AM to noon, at the Community Recreation Center. Pre-registration is required. $155 fee

Puppet Theater Camp (August 7th through August 11th) What could be more fun than starting with a few basic craft materials and your creative imagination to build a puppet? Instructor Mandi Bevando of Dabbling Brook will show you how to bring your puppet to life. Campers will learn how to create a puppet for an imaginary forest populated by bears, snakes, birds, butterflies and beetles. You’ll create a personality and give facial movements to your creation and then have fun telling stores you make up around a pretend campfire. Instructors from Minds in Motion will explain the basics of starting up a new business by coming up with a marketing strategy, merch design, and promotion that are then used to create a brand identity. It’s a great way to learn business fundamentals and communication skills, leadership abilities and business growth.
