Founded almost 100 years ago in 1927, 7-Eleven is a global brand with more than 83,000 stores across 19 countries. Since 2002, it has been celebrating its birthday on July 11 with a gift for its loyal customers - a free small Slurpee. These sweet, frozen drinks are the perfect complement to a hot summer day and who doesn't like a gift?
A worker at the Clifton Avenue store shared that, although the store was quiet at 9:30 this morning, it would likely be crowded and very busy closer to lunchtime. The promotion, she said, starts at 11 am and goes until 7 pm...if they don't run out of cups first. Last year, they ran through their entire inventory before 6 pm. It's a good day for the store since most customers also shop while they're there for the free Slurpee.
Clifton is home to four 7-Eleven locations: 849 Clifton Avenue, 1202 Main Avenue, 541 Van Houten Avenue, and 16A Main Street. All are listed on Google as being open 24 hours but some of their individual websites indicate more limited hours so it's best to call if you're planning on stopping by late at night.
The Slurpee machine at 849 Clifton Avenue, across the street from City Hall, is stocked with three special summer flavors: Hibiscus Lemonade, Dragon Fruit, and Sprite Lymonade Legacy. Starting at 11 am, you can stop in for your own chilly treat. It's a fun day for kids and adults alike.
Happy Slurpee Day, Clifton!
