Escaped Prisoner in Custody

Image

Yesterday, around 4 am, a prisoner escaped from police custody while being transported to the Passaic County Jail. The escape occurred while in the sally port, which is typically a secure, controlled entryway, meant to assist in the safe transfer of prisoners. It is not clear how the prisoner, identified as Passaic resident Isaiah Felix, age 20, got away.

Police chased Felix on foot for hours without success but late last night, Felix turned himself in to the Passaic Police Department.

He was transported to Clifton Police headquarters and then, back to the Passaic County jail. Felix is being held there on the original charges of burglary and kidnapping a family member and the additional charge of Escape.

Detective Lieutenant Robert Bracken thanked the Passaic County Sheriff's Office, the Passaic Police Department, and the Maywood Police Department (Detective Nichols and his K-9 partner, Phoenyx) for their assistance in this matter.
