Meet Zion! Zion is a handsome 8 year old orange male who is currently at the Clifton Animal Shelter. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Check out his shelter video HERE.
Zion was someone’s pet and it shows. He is soft, clean, and very friendly. The shelter believes that he was dumped outside and left to fend for himself. He did this by going house to house and asking to be let in out of the heat. One family took him in for a few days and then let him out hoping he would find his family, and then another took him in for a few days until the shelter could take him. He is a very friendly and sweet cat, who really needs a new beginning because his original family really did not do right by him. Zion is getting some much-needed dental care to restore him to perfect health and then he will be ready for his new home! This is a cat who has a lot of love to give, and as a "mature adult" cat still has many years of happy life in front of him in the right home.
Abandoning a domesticated animal is a crime under NJ State Law (N.J. STAT. ANN. §§ 4:22-16 - 57) and can result in a disorderly persons offense, punishable by a fine between $250 and $1,000 and/or a prison term of up to 6 months. People who are unable to keep their pets are urged to contact a reputable local rescue or shelter and to work with them to ensure that the animal is kept safe in their transition to a new home. There are a lot of risks to cats who are left outside, including being hit by cars, getting illnesses like FIV or FeLV through fights with other cats, poisoning, being injured or killed by dogs or wildlife, or unscrupulous humans. For more, please read our article HERE.
If you are able to give Zion the fresh start he deserves, please fill out the adoption application at the Clifton Animal Shelter and someone will contact you to discuss and answer any questions that you may have, and to set up a time to come in to meet them. The shelter does this to ensure that the environment is calm and conducive to having potential adopters get a good sense of the personality of the companion animal, and so they aren’t subjecting them to unnecessary stress.
You can also support the Clifton Animal Shelter by donating via their PayPal link or by donating supplies to them from their wishlists (Chewy or Amazon).
Please consider adding Zion to your home! The shelter has many wonderful cats and kittens in need, ready to bring lots of love and joy to your home. Check out their page on Petfinder to see their sweet faces.
