With the first week of May around the coroner, Clifton Public Schools will be seeing a jammed-packed week with activities ranging from film festivals to car washes for the community to enjoy.

This week, you can expect a district-wide S/C day on Monday, May 1st. This means that students will be released fifteen minutes earlier than usual to accommodate faculty and staff meetings in the schools. The school schedules can be found on the district website HERE.

On Tuesday, the National Honor Society will be holding its annual induction ceremony in the Clifton High School auditorium at 7:00 p.m. for students who have received the honor of membership. Juniors and seniors are invited to apply for this membership based on their academic performance, leadership experience, volunteer service, and character throughout the year.

There will be a jazz cafe hosted by the Clifton Mustang Band on Wednesday, May 3rd at School #17 at 7:00 p.m. This is the one time a year the middle and high school jazz bands perform and it is free to attend. There will also be baked goods available for purchase at the event and the opportunity to donate to these talented departments while attending the cafe.

On the same day, May 3rd, CHS’s CAST (TV and video production concentration) department will be holding its annual Film Festival at 7:00 p.m. during which student films will have their first showing in the school’s auditorium. Throughout the year, students in CAST class write, produce, and collaborate on a series of short films to be displayed at the Film Festival. Tickets are $12 at the door.

On Thursday the 4th, there will be a Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the basement of the Board of Education building at 745 Clifton Avenue. At these meetings, the Superintendent and the Clifton Board of Education gather to discuss various issues presented to them as well as hold a commentary portion for anyone interested in posing a question or worry concerning Clifton Public Schools. The school budget will be the headliner at this upcoming meeting.

Friday will be an early dismal for the district with the high school, middle schools, and elementary schools releasing students at various times throughout the day. The district’s early dismissal times can be found HERE.

On Saturday, SAT testing will be held at Clifton High. Students should have previously registered and are expected to be present for testing before the doors close at 8:00 a.m. The test should last around three hours and fifteen minutes depending on what the student is taking.

There will also be a car wash held in the high school parking lot, hosted by the Clifton High School Marching Band. It lasts from 8:30 to noon with cars costing $7 and SUVs/vans $10. These car washes will be held every Saturday for the duration of May. So if you are in the market for a car washing, make the band kids do it!

Have a happy May, Clifton Schools!
