If you are a wine lover, Clifton has much to offer. Whether you’re interested in learning more about wine, love the intricacies of wine and food pairings, or you just enjoy the experience of tasting wine, there are monthly events in Clifton you definitely won’t want to miss.
Stew Leonard’s Wine & Spirits of Clifton (345 Allwood Road) hosts monthly in-store V.I.P. after hours events. Currently, these events are free to attend and usually include wine education about a specific region or wine maker, along with free samples, light bites of cheese, crackers, and other wine-friendly snacks, giveaways, raffle prizes, and the ability to meet people with a shared interest in all things wine related.
The next event is being held this Sunday, April 30th at 6:00PM. The theme for this month’s event is California Dreamin’ Wine Tasting. Attendees will have an opportunity to sip on some delectable California wines, while learning what makes the wines so unique, and enjoy special! Charcuterie and light bites.
Expect these type of events to intensify in Clifton once the new Stew Leonard’s location opens in the coming months at the back of the Sytertowne Shopping Center.
There is limited space at these free events, so you must R.S.V.P. to guarantee a spot. If you would like to be added to the list for this Sunday’s event, contact Claire Mineo, Wine & Spirits Specialist, at Stew Leonard’s Wines of Clifton by emailing her directly at: cmineo@stewleonards.com
Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas also holds wine events at their location at 70 Kingsland Road in Clifton. These events, aimed at more serious wine aficionados, include monthly multi-course food and wine pairings which focus on specific wine regions or high-profile wine growers. Past events have included The Wines of Burgundy France and Caymus Vineyards Wine Dinner, each with a multi-course menu specially curated by Spuntino’s incredibly talented Head Chef, Michel Desjardins. These exclusive events are a bit pricey ($150 per person), but worth every penny, as you get an in-depth education on the featured wines, and an amazing 5-course menu (with an in-person table greeting from Chef Michel).
The next event will take place on Thursday, June 1st at 7:00PM with the Ceretto Wine Dinner, featuring wines from Piedmont Italy. For more information or tickets, visit
Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas.
In addition to the monthly wine dinners, Spuntino’s will also soon be hosting Blind Tastings each Monday at the bar. At 6:00PM you can do independent tastings, while there will be guided Sommelier tastings at 6:30PM. Complimentary bar snacks will be included.
