If you are having trouble paying your water or sewer bill, the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP), funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, can help. This program can help to:
* restore services or pay reconnection fees when service has already been terminated
* avoid service disruption if you have received a shut-off notice
* help you to manage payments going forward
* support customers who are current in payments but in danger of falling behind
Homes with elderly or disabled residents, and those with children under the age of five, will be given priority. Applicants must be bill holders who pay for these services directly. Business accounts are not eligible.
To be eligible, households must have total gross monthly incomes at or below 60% of the State's median monthly income of $6,662 (based on a family of four). You can check your eligibility HERE.
Applicants' names must match the names on their water or sewer bills.
You can apply through the portal HERE.
People without access to computers or the internet can call 1-800-510-3102 to be directed to one of the community action agencies which will assist them with starting, completing, and submitting an application online.
