What’s Happening This Week at CHS

This week, a cloud will set over Clifton High School as exam week begins and students scramble to prepare for the end-of-the-marking period quarterlies. Quarterlies generally account for about fifteen percent of a student's final marking period grade in a class and cover a majority of what was taught in a class throughout that marking period. Luckily, it will be short-lived as testing will only take place for three days out of the week with English, Electives, and Physical Education assessments on Monday, Science and Social Studies on Wednesday, and finally, Math and World Language on Thursday. There is a day break in the quarterly schedule on Tuesday the 4th to accommodate the monthly half-day that is in place for the AchieveNJ program, an organization that observes, instructs, and evaluates teachers in order to improve student learning. This means that on Tuesday, the high school will be dismissing students at 11:48 a.m. instead of the usual 2:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, April 5th, the Clifton High School Band will be holding a children’s concert for third graders and their families from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the high school. In this showcase, they will display the various musical talents that flourish at CHS. The band will be performing a variety of pieces, including an Encanto medley for the younger audience. Make sure to check it out!

On Thursday the 6th at 7:00 p.m., there will be a Board of Education meeting in the basement of the Board of Education building at 745 Clifton Avenue. These meetings allow for members of the community to join the Superintendent and the Clifton Board of Education to learn more about what is happening in the Clifton Public School District and pose any questions one may have.

Ending off the week on Friday, Clifton Public Schools will be closed for the religious holiday, Holy Friday. This means that Thursday will be the last day of school before spring break begins. Schools will be closed through April 14th.

The spring athletic season is also officially kicking off on Monday, April 3rd with baseball, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, outdoor track, and tennis all having meets, matches, and games throughout the week. For further details regarding times and locations, you can view the full schedule at CHS Athletic Event Calendar. You can also contact the school’s Athletic Director at TMullahey@cliftonschools.net if you have any other questions regarding the athletic department.

Study hard and good luck, Clifton High!
