Love Wine? Make Sure You Attend Stew Leonard's Next Tasting Event in Clifton!

There are so many great things to do in Clifton, but one of the things I am always on the lookout for are free events. This Sunday, I was happy to attend the ‘A Night in Italy Wine Tasting’ event at Stew Leonard’s Wine & Spirits on Allwood Road in Clifton.

One of a series of free after-hours events held at the Stew Leonard’s store location, these tastings highlight a specific wine region or type of spirit. Geared towards people who appreciate wine and spirits, these events offer free tastings, as well as cheese, crackers, and other small bites selected to pair with the alcohol being highlighted. If that isn’t enough, you are virtually guaranteed to run into friends and neighbors from around town, or even meet a new friend or two.

At Sunday night’s event, attendees were treated to a welcome glass of Prosecco and then invited to wander around the store to try various wines from different regions of Italy. These wines, along with a list of other featured wines from Italy, were all offered for sale at discounted prices. With every bottle purchased, attendees were provided with an entry for various raffle items which included an outdoor tabletop pizza oven, beach chairs, and a deluxe rolling cooler.

For me, the standout wine of the evening was the Jasci & Marchesani Montelpulciano d’ Abruzzo DOC. Offered for just $14.98 a bottle, this Southern Italian, full bodied organic red wine offered was lush and tasty, with a dry, supple finish.

These invitation-only events are held at Stew Leonard’s about once a month and offer customers a chance to try different types of wine and spirits from around the world. In December, there was a Bourbon tasting that included both straight bourbon samples and a few delicious bourbon craft cocktails.

Held at the current location on Allwood Road, Stew Leonard’s will be closing that location and moving to the site of the current Season’s Grocery store in the Styertowne Shopping Center. With a grand opening scheduled for September of 2023, the new location will include groceries in addition to the wines, spirits, and beers you’ve come to know and love at Stew’s. Similar to the location in Paramus, this new store will be a great source for produce, gourmet foods, great meats, and a fun shopping experience that includes singing animatronic produce sure to delight kids of all ages.

If you would like to consider attending the next Stew Leonard’s tasting event, visit the store and add your name to their email list. You will be notified in advance of upcoming events and have the opportunity to RSVP to attend.
