The Clifton Times has learned that the Clifton Main Memorial Library at 292 Piaget Ave, Clifton, NJ 07011 is closed due to major problems with the boiler. The library staff is unsure when the Main Library will reopen, and asks that all inquiries be directed to the Allwood Branch Library for assistance and daily updates. The Allwood Branch is located at 44 Lyall Road in Clifton, and is closed on Sundays. It will also be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023 for Presidents Day.
The Clifton Times had covered the Main Library’s issues with replacing the boiler in more detail in this article of February 8, 2023. At that point, a boiler had been found but not yet installed. Last week, the Clifton Times was told that the boiler was installed and undergoing testing, and library staff were optimistic that the Main Library might be able to reopen in a few weeks. It appears that this newest development is a setback to that plan.
The Clifton Times has reached out to Justine Tomczak, director of the Clifton Public Library for more information, and we will update this story as it develops.
In the interim, patrons can order books through the PALS Plus consortium, a collection of 22 public and academic libraries located in Passaic, Essex, and Hudson Counties, and pick up books at either the Main Memorial Library or the Allwood Branch. Meetings have been moved to the Allwood Branch and the Clifton Art Center is also hosting more library activities. Please check the library calendar or The Clifton Times for more details on programming at the library.
