Voting is an important right and privilege in American democracy.  Some of us exercise this civic duty faithfully, while others may think it's too much of a hassle, the system is too corrupt, or that elections don't effect their daily lives.  This sadly, is seen in voter turnout, as voter turnout is lower among younger generations of Americans.

Voter turnout rates can be especially important in local elections, like City Councils and the Board of Education races, as there are many examples across the country of state and local elections decided by just a handful of votes, NPR compiled a list of close elections here.
