Heat Advisory for Passaic County Through Tuesday
HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT TUESDAY...
The National Weather service issues a heat advisory for portions of northeast New Jersey, including Passaic County. The heat index value is expected into the lower 100s until 8:00pm Tuesday.
A Heat Advisory is issued when both heat and humidity will make it feel between 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.
Hot temperatures and high humidity can cause heat illnesses to occur. At increased risk are seniors and individuals with chronic health problems.
Buildings without air conditioning can be hotter than outdoor temperatures. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent breaks in either shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency, in cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1.
