A head advisory has been issued for North Jersey including Passaic County from noon to 8:00pm Wednesday.

Head index values are predicted from the mid 90's to 100 degrees for Wednesday, and continuing through  the week.

According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory is issued when combined heat and humidity make the temperature feel like it is 95 - 99 degrees for two or more days, or 100 - 104 degrees for any length of time.

Hot temperatures and high humidity combined can cause heat-related illness and puts seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions at an increased risk.

During heatwaves, NJOEM recommends staying indoors with air conditioning.  For homes and residences without AC, residents can visit libraries, shopping malls, and community centers to take a break from the heat.  When outdoors, watch for these signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke and read more from NJOEM here
